Internet slangs such as LOL (laughing out loud) and ROFL (rolling on the floor laugh-ing) enjoy great popularity among teenagers nowadays. In fact,they become so popular that many terms now cross from computer-mediated communication to face-to-face communica-tion. Some teenagers even use them in essay writing.
Internet slangs have little effect on language in general,but will greatly influence indi-viduals' ,especially teenagers' language development. The reason is that overuse of Internet slangs will lead to the lack of proper punctuation and grammar, and numerous misspellings Will appear in writing.
